The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility is 119,000 SF public health acute care hospital and ambulatory health care.
In early 2003, a campus-wide master plan for Chinle CHCF, based on the approved PJD/POR, was created to address future growth of the facility. Expansion and renovation options for all services were developed along with construction phasing based on priority
Phase One of the Campus Master Plan was to expand and renovate portions of the existing hospital to respond to the most urgent needs in providing additional Ambulatory Care Services. The project included a new 38,000 SF Outpatient Services Addition and 12,000 SF Renovation including Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Pediatrics, Maternal and Child Health, Audiology, Behavioral Health, Urgent Care Clinic and Medical Records Expansion.
The goal of the Chinle CHCF leadership was the creation of a clinic design that is the physical manifestation of a patient care team (consists of 4-5 providers and appropriate support and ancillary staff) with empanelled patients. The goal of the facility is to allow the facilities providers to give excellent care to its patients.
An ‘Integrated Clinic’ concept was created to achieve the goal of a single point care for patients by moving the providers from Primary Care Clinics, Specialty Care Clinics and Mental Health Clinics to the patient as opposed to moving the patient to the providers. The proposed plan eliminates traditional borders between clinics but grouping assigned assets of each clinic to provide staff efficiency within each clinic as well as allowing easy staff access between clinics.
Additional Scope of Work such as Electrical Code Upgrades and a new Generator were added to the Project. The Project was a Design-Bid –Build and was completed in 2010.
