Facility Condition Assessment (FCA)
An example comes to mind: Years ago, we reviewed an existing small hospital in Northern Minnesota that was some 50 years old. While it may have been acceptable when built for In-Patient Care, over the years the occupancy census fell lower & lower. At the same time, the demand for outpatient services increased rapidly. Being always short of funds, they began capturing in-patient rooms and converting to out-patient services. When we were brought on board, the remaining in-patient rooms were located on a high-volume corridor connecting separate wings of out-patient care. The solution was not workable for anyone!
Having an objective functional review / analysis of your existing or proposed facilities may be helpful in assuring that your facilities contribute to your Vision of providing high quality care and services. Further, efficient and attractive facilities can contribute to improving client outcomes, reducing staff turnover, and helping the financial wellness of the organization.
